# Breaking News: Explosion reported at Boston Marathon

They (police) did a sweep of the area twice before the blasts, last one was reported to be about 2-hours before the blast.

With any large public event there will be searches. Same reason the secret service removes mail boxes, seals man hole covers hours before the president arrives.
