# Bricked 8GB ipod touch 1st gen, $20

bought this from a kid at work thinking i could fix it. i couldnt.
he tried to jaibreak it but failed. when you plug it in, it shows a cartoon picture of steve jobs saying something in russian. plugs in and lights up, holds a charge, but thats it, doesnt do anything else. computer doesnt recognize it
selling for what i paid for it, $20

Did you try DFU mode or holding power and home button while it’s plugged and iTunes open

Nevermind. I was going to say I’ll take it then fix and sell it, but I’d feel like a dick.
This is definitely fixable. Just download a stock first gen firmware, probably 2.2.1, put it in DFU mode, and do a restore from there.
Search for npebea jailbreak and read up.

yes, nothing happened. honestly, i think it has more problems than what is showing

i have been, tried everything. i have a 32gb for myself, i just picked this up for cheap to try to fix it but no dice. take it, dont feel bad
anyone interested, i work in amherst and live in hamburg, so i drive back everyday around 2 if anyone wants to meet up
