just carry a pocket knife that is almost the length of your palm, trust that is more then enough.  
Get stab happy, knives are legal and self defense with a knife is open and shut case.

Edit/ or

When they hit you, floor it forward and slam the car into reverse and back into them as hard as possible.  
The airbags will deffinitly slow them down a bit.
