Koenigsegg didn’t want 'em.
Spyker didn’t want 'em.
China will take this:

_“State-owned BAIC will acquire the technology for Saab’s 9-3 and 9-5 car models, turbine engines and gearboxes, allowing the Chinese firm to develop its own-brand cars using the Swedish carmaker’s technology.”_

> General Motors Co said it would begin shutting down its money-losing Saab brand after last-ditch talks to sell it to a small Dutch sports car builder collapsed on Friday.

I’m all for the Chinese starting to respect intellectual property and copyrights etc. but I wonder why they’re actually paying for this rather than reverse engineering/stealing it like they usually do.

In the old 9-2

9-7 was a trailblazer
The new 9-5 was based off the new Buick Regal/Lacrosse
9-3 is based on a platform similar to G6 and Malibu
9-4X was going to be a SRX

The way I read it was GM thought it would take to long so they bailed

> _“Despite the best efforts of all involved, it has become very clear that the due diligence required to complete this complex transaction could not be executed in a reasonable time. In order to maintain operations, Saab needed a quick resolution,” said GM Europe President Nick Reilly. "We regret that we were not able to complete this transaction with Spyker Cars._

GM bought them in 89, with the first “GM” Saab being the 900NG in 94 (based on a Opel)
