This is what I needed to bend, it turned out pretty good. ![http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost41.jpg](http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost41.jpg) This part is what makes up the back of the car, there will be an aluminum panel wrapped around the bends, then bent over the top and bottom, a pretty simple panel, this is what the rear will look like eventually… ![http://ftp.uk.linux.org/~kgb/Caterham7/pics/cat_rear_three_quarters.jpg](http://ftp.uk.linux.org/~kgb/Caterham7/pics/cat_rear_three_quarters.jpg) The floor is done, I think I’m going to built the tranny tunnel from 18 gauge steel, bot it inside the tubes, then cut out the tubes giving me an extra 1.5" of interior room. is the frame fully welded or just tacked for now…and where did u get all ur tubing from ---

i would imagine the tranny tunnel tubes, even with it boxed in, play an integral role in the stiffness of the chassis. ---

HUUUUGE UPDATE! Well, not a lot of work has taken place this week because I started my new job, but work is beginning to pick up again. Today however I received a key piece that has been holding me up, a piece I really should have waited until I had before starting the transmission tunnel. that’s right…The transmission! And as you can see, I guessed correctly on the size of the tranny tunnel and it fits perfectly… ![http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost47.jpg](http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost47.jpg) This also allows me to test fit the engine so I can start making motor mounts, engine going in, soooo easy, the total package only weighs 266lbs… ![http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost48.jpg](http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost48.jpg) It’s in!!! With plenty of space to spare. I can move it forward and back about 5" in the engine bay, and the distributor easily clears the firewall tube, a part I was afraid of… ![http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost49.jpg](http://www.emkayusa.com/locost/Locost49.jpg) All the intake stuff hangs off the right side, it is a tight fit over here but some of this crap (evap stuff, idle control heater stuff) is getting tossed. The engine will be set to the right an inch but I should be able to stand it straight up. I may modify the oilpan to have it sit more level as it sits 1.5" under the car, I may make a custom pan with a larger valley area with baffles so I can make the engine sit a little lower. woulda been sweet if u used a subaru boxer motor so you could drop the center of gravity really low ---

^ i think the subaru motors are super wide in comparison and might not fit in the frame ---

Right. Scooby motor won’t fit. And I don’t know of a transmission that will work. It would be sweet though as I’m going to work for Northtown Subaru. ---

what about a rotary motor? u could completly put that inside that frame and a old FB are dirt cheap for project cars i always wanted to build something like that but mid engine Turbo Hayabusa motor… whats more fun then 13k redline and a Blow off valve ---
