Ask him how many rounds went through it. The 870 is a great entry level shotgun for home defense. The only other one I’d consider would be a 1200, and good luck finding a good one. Mossburg 500’s aren’t worth it in my eyes.

Not a fan of the pistol grip on the 500. Although, I know you can get a stock.
Supposedly the bolt on this bad boy is really durable and this shotgun generally needs very little “maintenance”

Good price for what it is and has done.
This is pretty much exactly my home defense setup minus the front pistol grip.

My mossberg is only for home defense/ have some 12ga fun. For any real shooting as far as shot gun goes I have a nice double barrel for skeet/trap and shopping for a nice over under.
What are you looking to do with this shotgun?

Fixed. Durable, dependable, and as accurate as you’re going to need in a scattergun. The racking sound alone will get most intruders out, quick. I had an 870 Wingmaster and I loved it, sold it when I was younger. I’ve owned a few other 12 gauge pumps but that was my favorite.
I went with another tried-and-true Remmy, the 1100 Tactical-2, with a Mesa Tactical shotshell carrier. I just prefer autoloaders, the 1100 is dead-nuts reliable too (learned to shoot on a 1971 model).

I plan on shooting people who intrude my house. I also plan on going to the range, and maybe out to my friend’s really open yard, and shooting random stuff.
My parent’s house also has a rodent problem - i’m going to put some peanut butter on a stick, and hang out with a pellet gun.

Horrible forum, and the owner is shady as fuck. He has bragged on other forums how many rounds have been shot through this.
I would avoid this and go buy one new in a store.
Also like cars, when you mod a gun it does not add value. You can get a new mossberg in a retail store for 300ish and an 870 like this for sub $400. This is not a great deal at all.

Unless you can get some better pictures to verify that it’s mint, and have a real hardon for those stocks for some reason, I’d spend the extra $22 and buy new.

for home defense I would think you wouldn’t want a standard stock… A pistol grip… although not that one would definitely be more tactical… also a 20 may do the job well if you are just looking to get an intruder also less of a chance of shot going through a wall and killing a loved one when you miss.

I you truly want home defense you buy this.
A shotgun will always have limitations, but a full stock will allow you to play around outside better.

X2 for 870 Marine magnum, it looks soo badass. Ive shot 500s, 590s and 870s and prefer the 870 by quite a bit, but you should head to a gun shop or hunting store and see what you like.

I use an 870 pistol grip at work, probably the most reliable shot gun ever made… they are cheap too… $350 isn’t that great of a price as you can buy them new for around that price.
