# Buying over the border... from US to CA

Is there anything they need to do specially? A guy from toronto came over the border and said something about having to pay 5% or something? What else should I/he know? is it likely hes going to be hassled?

Ya I’d say he will, unless he’s driving it over and its all insured and eveything he can say he went there to see a friend or something. I had a couple boxes of neon lights in my back seat and got pulled to the side for it.

Its not registered or insured anymore… he said he has to pay some percentage of the cost of the vehicle at the border? or maybe at registration? i know nothing of this, nor do I care, but he used that to factor into the price, and id like to know the truth as to if its really the case, thats all

Fuck that, he’s the one shopping across the border. Tell him if he doesn’t want to pay up, you’ll find someone here in the states that will buy the bike withouth dealing with that kind of shit. So that should def not affect the cost of the bike.

I once brought back 20K in casino winnings (of my buddy) in my pocket. They stopped him for the Cuban cigars they comped him sitting in the cup holder. Never knew about the cash.

Wow that’s a dumb risk for literally nothing. All you have to do is declare it and fill out the single page FINCEN 105 form. Instead he risked losing it all and both of you ending up with serious charges.
