So my good friends are heading off to Italy on Monday for 2 months, and they need there ipad unlocked to accept other internetz over there. anyone now how to do that? thanks brothers! ---

Internet or another 3G/Cell COnnection? If its just for interenet/wifi they dont need to do anything ---

What Shady said. WiFi is WiFi anywhere in the world. 802.11a/b/g/n is the same everywhere. For example, I was in Ukraine in August 2009 and had my Palm Pre connected to the bowling alley’s wireless without issue. Same for my laptop. If you already HAVE an iPad, just go out and get a wireless USB aircard from AT&T with international service without contract. Use if for 2 months, and then sell it off or something. ---

well from what he told me they need to use a sim card from some phone company over there in order for them to get/use the internet at the home they will be staying at, since there isnt any. ---

If they are using the Cell tower for WiFi/3G access as Shady said, then yes. They will need a SIM card. If they are accessing the internet via a wireless router or access point (such as at the local internet cafe), they do NOT need a hacked iPad SIM. ---

Even so, getting an international MiFi setup would probably be easier still. Just go to verizon/att and get a MiFi… 30 bucks a month, no contract… WIN ---

but will any sim card work? like the AT&T sim card thing? ---
