hey if you upgrade cams do you HAVE to upgrade valvesprings even with a mild cam ? or does aftermarket cams and stock springs lead to float

Are you Running SR, or KA?
If your running the SR it’s nutorious for valve floating… Get a set of the Greddy rocker arm guards. I know a shop that carries a lot of SR20 parts in stock all the time. If you need them, let me know and I’ll PM you the info on them. That’ll solve your float problem…
However, if your going to take off the cams (all of this is assuming you have an SR) I’d recommend doing the springs. If you can afford it. It’s worth it. I did both to my SR and all is well in the land of boosting 😛

Short answer - you do not need to upgrade your valve train on mild cams. I personally am getting 264’s Step 1’s and have no intention of upgrading.

There are many examples of guys running more agressive cams that this with nothing done.

I think because of your obvious affiliation with JRP and your attempt to be covert about “the shop”

I don’t care really – but I susepct that’s why he chuckled.

Why don’t you guys at JRP give us some deals on SR20 stuff? Run some GB’s?

Ok, First off. I’m not even at JRP anymore… I haven’t been Since November. So how about everyone Lays off me… I left for those reasons… I don’t need to be labels because of shit JRP did. That is there business now… Please try to keep me out of it.
I speak it… because I’ve had SR20DET’s in my car for over 6 years now. I’ve been working with them for all of those 6 years. I know quite a bit about the engines, and wish to share my knowledge with those here who care to hear it. I’ve blown MANY of them. I like to think I know a few ways to prevent them from blowing. Those who want to listen can… Or they can ignore me. Up to them…

No it’s because rocker arm stoppers don’t stop valve float. and SRs arn’t nutorious for valve float.

Hey man, please don’t see my comment as confrontational…it just looked like you were trying to be sneaky about repping JRP.

But if you’re not there anymore you are obviously not doing that. It’s cool.

Where have you landed? You still in the business?

There are a lot of people who don’t like JRP. I can appreciate that. As long as people don’t think I’m trying to push them, or anything I’m happy.
I wasn’t trying to be harsh… I just keep hearing it no matter which board I go to… Someone labels me…
I do work for another shop, but friends are friends, and business is business.
I’d like to consider you guys friends…

Hey Sash - what is your rev limit set to.

Mine is set to 7300 - I suspect that is safe.

Nobody has anythign against you or jrp, some people just don’t like fwd cars, and think putting an SR into a civic is dumb??

And the whole plugging shops thing is just really homo, there is already enough of it as there is on here even if it isn’t jrp.

Don’t take anyone on here serious, most have ugly rotted out 240s with bootleg parts that never go to the track and spend most of their time trying to find replacement parts for shit that’s broken.

7260

dont ask me why

but when i blew shit up i raised it to 7750

you see there was a straight section i was trying to link in 2nd, and with the limiter set at 72xx i would lose the drift JUST JSUT JSUT before i had to thrwo the car the other way

set it to 7750 and made it, but then later found out i broke a rocker arm. but htat was the same day i blew my engine. I really beat the shit out of Sandra that day

Weren’t you bouncing off the rev limiter while running on 3 cylinders in the pits when you through the rocker??

thats another possibility, i dont think i took the valve cover off until i “fully” blew my engine up. so either way, the rocker flew off while on the rev limiter. whether it was 15seconds or 2 seconds is the question
