# Can someone fix this? (Bent Exhaust)

I don’t know if mounting it in a vise, heating it up and bending it back with a stick in the pipe is the best way…
It need to be as close to perfect as possible, because as you can see, they come **straight** out of the back of the truck.
If the tip is out of round (waiting to hear from seller), I have no problem cutting them off and using the new (or existing) tips to straighten it out.

stick a long pry bar or pipe in the bent one and yank it around until it’s straight. exhaust bolted to the car, of course

pry bar or pipe will fix the tail pipe position up,down,left,right. That whole tail pipe section needs to be pushed back.

If you want to massacre the polished tip im sure that would be a great idea. Thats all thats going to happen though
In reality it looks like the overall LENGTH of each side is different due to someone backing the pass side tip into something. Attempting to pry 2.5" stainless tubing back into its proper place will fail.
Buying a new 180\* mandrel bend and starting fresh on that tip would be the easiest and prettiest way to go about this.

I asked the seller… said the tip was straight.
Shipping doubled after I sent paypal… so he took 1/2 the difference…
I’m going to try heat and a bat in the pipe to see if I can massage it… while it is off the truck.

The pics are from the seller. It is off the truck, because right now it is in a box on it’s way to my door. As far as it not moving… I may mount it first, if that is easier, but in terms of applying heat, I think I’d rather have it off.
It is a Borla S off of a Jeep SRT8 … going on to my SRT8.

An SRT8
I would think that to keep it from moving he would probably find a heavy workbench, some blocks of wood, some screws, some straps, and various heavy objects / people. Its really not that hard to figure that sort of thing out. Definitely not something he has to immediately start planning for. Jack is more of a man then that.

What I meant is it’s going to take a lot of leverage to bend that and I don’t think doing it off the vehicle is an option. I’ve re-bent exhausts just like this using a long pry bar after putting together a big hit and realizing the exhaust is a little bent and the tip doesn’t exactly fit the bumper hole. Works like a charm. Plus if you do it off the vehicle you never know where center is. Definitely plan on removing the bumper as you will probably have to bend it past the confines of the opening. Don’t worry about heat next to the body, just be careful and don’t specifically point it at the floor for any amount of time. lol. Plus it probably won’t bend where you expect it to.
edit: after looking at the pictures again it looks like the bent section is pulled out away from where it’s supposed to be and the other one looks pushed in? wtf? good luck man.

Bending it a little left/right isn’t a big deal because it’s easy to get the leverage you need, but pushing that one back what looks to be close to an inch is going to be tough.
And yeah, that tip on the side that isn’t right does not look round anymore. I’m trying to figure out how exactly the seller managed to get it knocked so out of alignment.

Thanks Justin, Joe gets first stabs at it tomorrow, he got back to be first.
We should be able to do it, but damn, I tried encouraging it before I put it on the truck… 3" stainless is strong shit. lol. Wasn’t going to bend w/o heat and a long pry bar. I have to imagine the muffler shop will have the tools to make it right.
The old tips fit inside the new ones… lol
