# Can't afford a new X5, just buy a replica..

Hyundai’s CEO back in 99 was discusted with their
product. (ex. bolts in engine bay were multiple colors, wires everywhere)
he set out to emulate toyota’s quality.
now they make better stuff. sales rose 42% the following year.
( i got that out of a text book, “managing for quality and performance”)
as for china, we are buying ourselves into oblivion. our parent company buys machined parts @ $6 when it costs over $25 to make it stateside.
investors need profits, so if you dont cut the costs, your competitors will.
there is nothing we can do about it.
all we can do is make it so that china can not compete with lead times.
nothing like setting up a factory in china, then having your top guys start another one across the street and sell your stuff globally for less money.

I havent looked to closely at the new ones but have heard good things. All I know is their cars all have horrible orange peel…
and does anyone on this forum even drive a hyundai? cant be many if any. That has to say something, since this is a car forum…

the new sonata is pretty nice, the rents have one.
its styling is accord-esque. i get them confused all the time when i see them
EDIT: i really do like the hyundai’s they have good quality. i really like driving my parents…although it cant really be compared to my car 😃
