ok, so i have a '90 240sx with a ka24e engine. eversince i changed the headgasket last winter, every so often the engine feels like its losing gas/bogs/shakes and vibrates like crazy…this happens while on partial throttle…and when that happens…i jus go WOT and the bogging/engine shaking stops…but comes back if i let off and go to partial throttle.

im thinkin its the fuel pump? but why would WOT stop the engine from bogging. then i thought about it again and maybe the injectors are messed?

also, when i changed the headgasket i changed the sparkplugs, but not the wires. im using the old wires on the new plugs and they dont fit as tight as they used to on the old plugs, could this be my problem?

Hey, I’am having a similar problem whenever i’am in reverse or drive and I come to a full stop so when I’am not stepping on the throttle and I’am thinking its the injectors but I’am not 100% sure so I’am bringing my car to a shop and whatever is ill let you know.

Let me know how it goes with your car.

Do a compression test. A shaky engine could mean you lost a piston, but you would see loads of smoke from the exhuast.

injectors and/or fuel rail.
its probably has a bunch of corrosion on the rail,
and the injectors are probably covered in oil.

two-tone had the same problem , thats how we fixxed it.

I serviced a caravan where the fuel rails were full of rust, it only had a misfire in one cylinder and it’s a v6… when I mean full, I mean I couldn’t understand how it was running, every injector screen was full of crust and red sand… yet the gas tank and the fuel filter are plastic, both were clean

it can’t hurt to pop the injectors out and have a peek at the connectors and screens

Sounds like a TPS problem if you only bog on partial throttle.

If you have this happenening at 10% or less throttle then above 10% throttle everything dissapates it could even be in relation to how the TPS is set.

At WOT voltage from the TPS should read at around 4.0-4.4v. At 0% throttle you should read 0.1-0.4v.

Check to see if these figures are within spec. If you have a TPS problem relating to adjustment it will read less then 100% when you are actually at 100% (so at WOT you may read 3.5v as opposed to 4.2V which should read at WOT as an example)

PM me if you need more info.

Also as a side note, generally fuel related problems are more likely to occur at open throttle as opposed to closed. If you bog at high throttle it is more likely a fuel related problem then it is a fuel management issue like a TPS sensor.

Being that I havent actually seen the problem in question my interpretations of what you have said are limited.
