# car not starting

hey guys , my friend (sleepy\_eyes\_90black ) his car is not starting,

his car cranks over but doesn’t start , we have narrowed it down to he’s not getting enought spark or none at all, is there an easy way to test if his distributer is produceing a spark ??,

If you’ve isolated it to that, buy a rebuild kit, they’re not that expensive, and if it’s never been replaced/rebuilt, it could probably use it. New plug wires might not be a bad idea.

If you just want to test his dizzy, pull the plugs, one at a time, and ground the bottom against the engine, get someone to turn over the engine with the starter, and check that it’s sparking.

buy a spark tester…basically a spark plug with a clamp so you can easily ground/ watch while you crank…10 bucks at ct.
