What does it mean when this light comes on. I’m talking about the one on the dash. The car has been fine driving around for a few days and has been from Toronto to Waterloo. The light is on dimly, but gets brighter if I turn up the fan, turn on the defogger or turn on the headlights. It gets dimmer if I rev. I have a new battery in the car… What do you think is the problem? ---

check your main ground cause you said you got a new battery. ---

i had the same problem with my car a while back…the battery light would come on but it was very dim, i thought it was maybe my battery that was weak but the car was starting no problem so i just ignored it and it ended up going away after about a week. the only other thing i could think of is maybe your alternator isnt charging your battery like it should? ---

It’s probably a bad alternator, but it could also be just a loose belt… -Martin. ---

Mine was doing that last year. Ended up having to replace the alternator because it was only sending out 11V. ---

same problem here, bad alternator was the issue. ---

My first bet would be the Main ground, it cause a similar problem on Both my 240’s, the wire is very flimsy and disconnects easily. Check it. It runs from the firewall, just left of the brake booster to the engine block. It looks like a flat peice of baraded steel wire. If this is broken, it should solver your problem. If not Definatly alt. Cheers
