# check engine light

what is a Knock Sensor, Bank 1 , what does this mean?

your knock sensor is malfunctioning. Check your wires or change it.

Yeah check the wiring on the knock sensor, your knock sensor is basically a microphone that listens for detonation in your engine, lots of the time (like in a Spec V) after doing mods to the car ie Cams, Header the Knock Sensor will confuse normal engine noise as detonation and retard timing to save the engine from detonation. So basically a Knock Sensor retards timing when needed. Hope that helps answer your question a lil.

thanks for the info, but will this mess up my engine? and would that make my engien light come on? the only thing i have done is a adapter and filter, and axle back exhaust

It won’t mess up your engine as long as you aren’t going WOT. Until you get it fixed, I’d recommend moving up a grade of gas to 89 to prevent detonation.

The knock sensor, like Nick said, retards timing based on knocks/pings, also known as detonation. As long as you don’t put heavy loads on the motor or use crappy gas until you get it fixed, you’ll be OK.
