I am starting my TA project soon…what is the most efficient/ cost effective way to build a 350 to reach around 400 rwhp? I was thinking of getting a used 350 and throwing on a top end kit from JEGS or Summit. How do they perform? I know they match perfectly because all the components are made for each other, but like which ones are better than others etc? ---

There are so many good parts out there, easiest engine for aftermarket support. Any 350 will do, pre 80 is said to be best, try and get a 4 bolt main block for obvious reasons. get some good flowing heads, I have Vortech heads which flow nice, good valvetrain so you can spin to 6K. A good cam, depending on what you want to do. Basically look at a basic motor, I have a fast burn 385 ZZ4 in my car, easy EASY swap, worth the money. If you think you can build a motor for cheaper just copy the specs on the ZZ4, reliable and good for close to 400 HP with simple mods. As for 350s, I have a bunch which are fully rebuilt, but mainly stock, just bored new pistons/rings/bearings/valvles/gaskets, 500$ each but they are basic reliable engines. I have a run stand you can hear it run before you install it. ---
