I’m guessing you don’t have a high efficiency furnace yet?
If you do I would take the money and put it towards swapping the tank to HE and having the chimney removed…

The house is a double. One of the furnaces is high efficiency. The reason I needed work done was due to water leaking. This was just a temp fix until I replace both furnaces and once both are replace, I will also have the hot water tanks re-routed.

I used - [http://www.felgemachermasonry.com/](http://www.felgemachermasonry.com/)
They first quoted me 1400 for a rebuilt chimney but once getting up there and working on it, they stated a rebuild was not needed - put a new cap on, repointing, rain cap, etc.

If you use them, let them know Dan Mank from Kenmore recommended them
