Not that impressive as the amount of workers and equipment they had on staff was more than 6x what most us crews use for anything. It looks like they had 6 cranes which is exactly 6 times the amount of cranes they have on a 500,000 square foot, 3 story high school I just finished. Throw enough money at anything and you can finish it in an amazingly short time. ---

The fact that they had 6x the people does not make this less impressive… It took 6 days, even if you paid US wages, it would be fucking cheap. It takes MONTHS for this to happen in the US. Those are very efficient workers. It must be awesome to know you have these kinds of reasonably skilled workers to throw at a project like this for next to no cost. China is getting good at what they do. They’re many, many times more efficient at everything than the US. Sure, it may not be engineered as well, or last as long… But its CHEAP, and thats what counts to most people. The US should be very worried about China taking over… ---

Generally, cheaper is better, given the fact that it PROBABLY wont fail. The majority of buildings don’t fall. If they did, one would think something might be done about it. The people inside are generally blissfully unaware of the structure surrounding them. I don’t see where this comment is going. Clearly they don’t feel the building is going to fall. If it does, its a total loss. They obviously want the building to be safe enough, along with being cheap. This is purely logic. ---

I stumbled on people on the floor when walking.” A building resident identified as Mr. Zhou told Hong Kong broadcaster Phoenix TV that he and his wife were napping in their 23rd floor apartment when they smelled smoke. He said they climbed down the scaffolding four stories before being rescued by firefighters. At one point helicopters could be seen hovering over the building, and witnesses said at least one resident was rescued by a helicopter, but thick smoke hampered further efforts. By evening the helicopters were gone.
