So a few weeks back i picked up an eg sedan for a new daily/beater. When i first started driving it i noticed the clutch to be very chattery and tough to smoothely take off from a stop. Once you got going it was fine, shifted perfect, and wot in any gear wouldn’t slip or pop out. Yesterday i noticed that the clutch pedal was grabbing a lot lower and the car was much easier to drive from a stop, and still didn’t slip so i was pleased. Today was a bit alarming however. Started the car in neutral and noticed the clutch pedal was grabbing VERY low…so low in fact that i couldn’t get the car in first or second gear. I was eventually able to and once driving had no problems at all on the way to work, and made sure to do a few pulls to make sure. I’m just concerned it will continue to get worse until i can’t get it in gear at all. At first i thought pressure plate but that would result in poor driveability all the time. The clutch apparently only has about 1Ok miles on it. any ideas? I already owe carnut a cookie, Who’s next? ---

buy a new d clutch,i think you can them for like 80 bucks ---

is it a cable or hydraulic clutch? ---

it’s hydro sounds like there’s a leak and air in the line … just check the line from the clutch master cylinder all the way to the clutch slave cylinder ---

ok it’s a 92-95 civic sedan i’m going to assume from your description so far… it is hydro i’m also going to assume your not very mechanically inclined? ---

Low-Fluid, leak, air in line. Probably an easy fix, and probably never check since the car rolled off the dealer lot. ---

this car had a brand new slave put on at 165k as well. sounds like air in the line or bad slave, as stated already, try bleeding it first. If it is the slave, it is CRAZY easy to change and cost me $27 new. ---

I have replaced and repaired a few brake lines in the past and imagine this would be no different…same goes for bleeding. And the line is very visible and easy to get to from under the hood so if that’s the problem the fix should be easy 🙂 no i only made that assumption because of your 2nd post. knowing a persons ability helps in trying to tell them what to do and how to tell them how to do it. ---

Had the exact same problem with a past car, but it was a cable clutch, adjustment was wrong, and it would grab right off of the floor, would just flop around as if it were not connected otherwise. GL! ---
