# clutch dieing

how long u think my clutch has left since its slippin quite a bit like i gotta let go of gas in order to get it gripped and my clutch goes up slower then before also when i change gears feels harder like a syrupy feeling is it cause its freezing cold outside, i just want to know if i can drive my car for a bit more without having it to be towed before i got on vaction to florida then fix it

IMO the slipping clutch needs to be looked at asap. I wouldn’t put it off.
Most of our gearboxes, even with syn. fluids, will be ‘syrupy’ for 1-2 mins after startup in extreme cold (today). I shift around a bit in extreme cold before driving. Doesn’t hurt to replace your tranny fluid if due.

My clutch died outta the blue. It slipped slowly and slowly. And then it
just went totally.
Now I have my car up in my garage, tranny bolts off, drained and and
only pulled an inch. Fuck.

the same thing is happening to me i think…when its cold out the clutch get kinda frozen or feels stuck and after the car warms up the engagement is much higher up than it used to be…id have to release the clutch more now before it engages in gear…does that mean the same thing as the clutch slipping? sorry i dont know what that term means can someone explain…thanks!

slipping … as in the revs go up, but the car doesn’t.
the clutch is literally “slipping” as in not grabbing
You let the clutch out, ease on the gas … clutch pedal is completely out, but it feels like the clutch is still in. The revs will climb faster than your speed, like you were spinning your tires a bit. And it might smell.
Start the car, put it in 5th gear. Step off the clutch. If the car bucks forward, lurches … it’s clutch time.
If it stalls right out, the clutch is ok.
This tranny is a bit notorious for slave line issues, and adjustment problems. The tranny is great, it just needs some lovin.
If the fluid checks out, and there’s no air in the system, pedal height is adjusted properly and it’s still “slipping” … clutch time.
Nissan always seems to give us the shittiest stock clutches. Start modding the car and pretty quick it will start to go.
