> Just the fact that he left the 18’s and summer tires on during winter throws responsible out the window. The video of him just spinning constantly, knowing he wasn’t going to move was pointless.

I cant really argue with you there 😉 But I still wouldnt consider it a beaten car, and I see no justification of the issues :gotme:

I had an 06. I never had any reliability issues with the car. It was modified as well. Got about 20-22 mpgs around town with it and close to 30 mpg on the highway. As far as a daily driver it was great. Comfortable inside, decent factory audio system and fun to drive. The oil change is a bitch the first time but once you figure it out its cake. I actually kind of liked the top loading filter. The supercharger is right in the way though so make sure the motor is cool when you do it so you don;t burn yourself.
Higher mileage SS/SC’s can be had for under $10k. If you have the dough get the turbo one though. You can find 08’s for ~$18k. The SS/TC has a nicer interior, upgraded brakes and is much more powerful.

I agree with the looks of the car… it’s a love it or hate it thing… I have never loved the big wing on the car but I’ve never had the motivation to swap it for a smaller one. I am over 25 though so I do hear you there… I’m personally just ready to move on to something a bit more suited to my age and interests now… I’m looking to build something I can track and although the Cobalt has treated me very well and is fun it’s not a track (drag racing) car by any means.

I also agree on the oil change… it’s actually really simple and doesn’t cost you anywhere near $80… If you change it yourself it will run you about $35-40 but that is due to the car using 6.5 quarts of Mobil 1. Nothing needs to be removed to change the oil you just need a socket extension or two.

> Well… there cheaply built, not very comfortable, stupid boy racer looks, and seem to be the flagship car for D-bags everywhere, plus they get relatively poor gas milage (to be expected with an S/C) and all that stuff aside (because its personal preference) a good friend of mine who will be left anonymous, has had one for about year and a half/40K. In that time the clutch has gone, all 4 struts have gone, for no reason the car got a CEL for a misfire that didn’t exist, a CEL for a coolant temp sensor issue that didnt exist, it has also randomly killed the battery overnight twice…again for no apparent reason, the E-Brake lever is broken and doesn’t engage. And most recent and my personal favorite, the trans. appears to be toast and will not engage any gear (waiting on a verdict). There also know to have a ring land ? issue that causes excessive crankcase pressure or somtething and kills motor (ask oasis 24-7). All this BTW is out of GM’s fantastic 30K warranty, BTW this is a I/E/short shifter car, nothing special, calmly and responsibly commuted daily. All this stuff aside though, if you can find a functioning implementation, bang for the buck is pretty good. But really all the faults would be a bit easier to live with if the car was anything other than just another pocket rocket, IMO there are far better choices in the hot FWD car market, just keep it in mind, needless to say my experiences with these cars hasnt been good.

If your taking about JDM junkies car I have to agree with the others that car is hammered, I’ve worked on that car and heard alot of storys about that car from his close friends
