I have to say, we are absolutely overwhelmed at the generosity so many people have shown this little dog. Thank you all once again. Cookie was actually excited and happy to be at the vet this morning. She is out of surgery now, it went well. The vet said she was a real trooper, and should heal pretty quickly. For now, she is staying with one of our most experienced fosters and enjoying being spoiled. ---

Happy update! Post-surgery. As you can see she is resting comfortably. She’ll have the stitches in for 2 weeks, to make sure the eyelid closes completely. It probably itches like crazy, but she’s only pawing at it a little. I should add that the vet needed closure on Cookie, so after further investigating while operating he did determine it was in fact blunt force trauma/crushing to the eye that caused the damage. Probably pretty violent too, to damage the optic nerve and cornea so much.
