As a software engineer, that error feels like the kind of lazy programming I’d expect from a government contract. Well, the database is timing out so I’ll just spit out this generic “can’t determine your eligibility error” that doesn’t really say our system is broken and leaves the user wondering who’s side the problem is on. ---

Spot on. As someone who’s oldest childhood friend works at Maximus in their Albany, NY office, I can believe this statement… coming from him the contracts they get for stuff like this often times ends up being a dumpster fire. ---

Oh the NYS systems are worse. I know guys who have been trying to get unemployment setup for WEEKS now. One was told by the system to call in because there was an issue… and of course there is no way to get anyone on the phone. ---

From what I gather they get contracts from NYS and Fed to build out medicare/insurance portals and now portals for COVID relief, but yeah… dumpster fire more often than not. ---

You should see the Florida unemployment garbage. It took me 5 days to help my girl file for hers because it would just reset back to the start or time out over and over and over. Even yesterday to request her payment it took 5 hours. ---

For people right at that threshold in 2018… don’t hold your breath… no clue how much weight to put on this. seems silly. ‘The rest of the checks will be issued by gradually increasing income increments each week. Households earning $198,000 who file jointly will get their reduced checks on Sept. 4. The last group of checks will be sent on Sept. 11 to those who didn’t have tax information on file and had to apply for checks, according to the Washington Post.’ This is Yahoo so I fully expect grammar mistakes on the regular… ---
