So at least once a night I have been getting a BSOD with a “clock interval was not recieved on the secondary processor”. After looking it up, apparently the 3rd core on phenom processors tends to go bad and is a pretty common problem.

With a LAN coming up that I am competing in and planning to build a new system for SC2 anyway, this just lets me jump the gun on getting started.

What do you guys recommend? I’m not looking to spend $400 on some insane OCable cpu as I do not OC, but I would like whats considered “above average” now. i7, i5, not sure how they rank against each other anymore. Also, apparently RAM mates with only particular mobos, so please recommend some with a mobo (DDR3 preferably).

thanks in advance

Ugh, being forced to build a system in advance is teh suck.

[Tomshardware.com](http://Tomshardware.com) used to have various builds on their site, but giving it a quick glance now I can’t seem to find it.

Nevermind, [here](http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-balanced-platform,2469.html) could be a starting point.
