So I have been thinking about this for a long time now and want to actively research what my options are. Due to daily duties, I’d only be able to take off about 3-4 weeks to make this happen. I’d like to travel from WNY to CA on a motorcycle then fly back home. I’m looking into renting a HD Dyna or equivalent for the most comfort but finding a place that has a one-way option will be a challenge. I’d also look into other options like purchasing a bike here then selling it once I arrived to CA. For those of you who have done this, via car/motorcycle/etc what routing options would be best for scenic purposes? What are must-sees and must-dos? Would anyone on here be up for the challenge of attending? Daydreams need not to apply, PM if so! Input would be greatly appreciated, I’m looking at you @ItsOver :lol: ---

I’ve always wanted to do this. I remember reading an awesome thread on SOHC4 by a kid that did it right out of highschool at age 18 on a cb500 four…it was I think from texas to NY though, but still quite an adventure to read about. realistically if you hustle you can make it out here from ny in like 8 days. @woz and myself have done several 2k mile trips in 5-6 days on less than ideal choppers with plenty of farting around ---

I’m super jealous BTW. ---

also. I know I just texted you this but I vote that you just buy an 1200cc evo sportster for 2500-3k make a sissy bar for it to strap your shit to ride it out here then sell it and fly home ---

I did this in the M5 when I got out of the Army. I spread it out over 3 weeks and planned stops to see family/friends all over. I even met my dad in Vegas for a few nights! I had some planned stops but mostly I just winged it and spent as much.little time in an area as i desired. Easily one of the most memorable adventures of my life. You will have a blast. Grand Canyon or the Redwoods on the coast were my favorite stops. I spent an entire week in California before I went to vegas. Northern Cali is one of the most beautiful places ive experienced in my lifetime. ---

@XwalkerX… all good stuff. IDK about the tent though, at first glance. A REALLY nice high end 1 person tent that packs down to nothing can be had at REI for 150, and i’d be willing to bet the quality is higher. ---

@XwalkerX for sure. The lack of poles is nice, but really only caters to bikes with sissy bars. Really just a warm dry hole to crawl into at the end of the day. REI is great, they even list weight, etc on all their products and you can see how they pack down in store. Got a SUPER nice Kelty tent for 150. Very light, very small footprint.
