# "Crossover" anyone own one? or have information?

+1 for the Pilot. Inside it has almost as much room as my Expedition, but outside it’s a decent amount smaller and it gets considerably better gas mileage.
I forgot it’s tow rating is 4500 boats and less for regular trailers. Gotta remember, it’s just a minivan chassis with a tall body.

Warranty…my fine web buddy. i would like to purchase an x5, tdiv10, rx350, but i would have to buy it used and try to get a 5 year warranty.

Coming from vehicles that are really designed to tow, where you’re towing no where near their limit, you’re going to be very disappointed when you start towing at or over the max tow rating of one of these crossovers. I’ve towed way over limits (3500lbs behind a tracker), at limits (5000 lbs behind a V6 Ranger), and well under limits (3500lbs behind an Expedition) and the first two are no good for regular towing.
And you say you’re buying for a warranty. Good luck with that when things like transmissions start going and the dealer spots that hitch hanging off the back. It’s not hard for a mechanic to spot a transmission that went because it was overheated.

understood, i just would like a 4.5k-5k tow rate so i can safely tow 3k. i think i am going to test drive the honda. yahoo puts it up high.

Too bad that 3 of the 4 in that link you posted don’t meet your towing requirement.
What about going more truck based? 4runner, pathfinder, explorer, trailblazer etc? Body on frame may be low tech, but it’s great when you’re hanging 3500 lbs off the back.
I really like the looks/gas mileage/interior space of the new crossovers too, but very few of them meet my utility requirements. When it comes time to replace the Expedition (which hopefully won’t be for a while since it’s almost paid off) I’m hoping the Acadia is fairing well and has a decent used market. What I’ve read and seen of that vehicle has impressed me. How did it drive, putting aside your GM hate. 😉

i dont hate GM, and if i get the best deal on one, then i will get it, it drove nice, kind-a slugish getting out of the cx9, but over all for fit function 6 of 10, cx9 7 of10. If the cx9 had a 4.5k tow then i would have bought one. lets see how the honda does.

you look at the Saturn Outlook? most of the same components of the Acadia but usually a little less expensive.

Not sure I’d trust he Pilot pulling a fully enclosed trailers. It’s only gets a 4500 rating for boats because a boat is pretty aerodynamic. A fully enclosed race trailer is pretty much the most un-aerodynamic thing you can pull.
On a slightly related note… While merging onto the 290E pulling the boat onto that really short on ramp near Military, I remembered why I love V8 towing power. Car right on my ass about to push the boat propeller into his grill, 3 lanes of traffic coming down the 290, stand on the go pedal and even dragging 3500 lbs I hit 70 by the end of the short ramp. Probably cost me $3 in gas to get down that ramp though. 🙂

low miles (that motor is good for well over 150K)
Makes the most power, and gets the same MPG as the Honda.
