im not debating losing to a solid 12 car… Im so sick of people on this forum saying vws are slow. No one on this forum knows shit about them obviously except for you and you just conform like the rest of the kids on hear. Im sorry your mk1 1.8t is slow but that does not mean all vws are slow. Go on the vortex and look at the quarter mile ladder plenty of people in the 10s and 11s and few broke into 9. So dont sit here and tell me that cars that are capable of running low 12s and getting 11s with thd right mods are slow cars

we say vw’s are slow because the majority of them are. for every 10 second vw…theres about half a million 14second ones. if hondas had the same ratio, we would say that all hondas are slow too, but truth be told, it only costs you about 2g’s to get your stock d16 to run 13s, so theyre everywhere.
as you said much earlier in the thread…you were looking at a $6000 turbo kit that may or may not get you a 12.xx time.

first of all dalhback racing has a 1080whp gti off a 1.8 20 vavle. just want to clear that up for you. plus if you want to go by nyspeed conformity then dynos mean nothing, its all about track times which there is a corrado that ran a 9, plenty of 1.8ts that ran 10’s and plenty of 1.8ts that ran 11s… the 2.0t is brand new and in the next couple of years you will see them running 10’s and 11’s
woody… its take 800 for a stock gti to get into the 13s… vws are expensive im not arguing that, however just because it is expensive to make a vw a 10 second car doesn not make it slow it is still a 10 second car. the bugatti veryon must be a slow car then with that logic because it costs so much money

OK I’ll try and spell it out for Ace and Gary:
Like any car, VW’s can be made fast. But they are a lot harder to make fast and it costs a lot more money than, say, a Honda or a Mustang or something.
So when budsdubbin comes in here spewing shit he read on APR’s website or, God help us all, the vortex about how mad fast a stock turbo VW with a few mods is, people tend to get annoyed.
Plus it’s against the generally accepted social rules of car enthusiasts to talk about what your car COULD do IF you did XXX mod to it. Talk is annoying in a hobby centered around getting results.
Understand why everyone’s ganging up on you?

i’m sorry but the dahlback GTI was a longitudinally mounted 2110cc I5 20v. Not a 4cyl, 6cyl, or letalone technically a VW motor.

youre not listening. its because there are an extremely small number of fast ones that we deem them slow. You said it yourself…theres ONE corrado in the 9’s, and a few in the 10s. go on hondatech and search the classifieds. im sure you’ll find half a dozen 10 second hatches.
