# D.A.R.E. Liscense plate (black)

I know they only offer the white ones now but is there anyway I could still get my hands on a black plate? Anyone know of someone that would want to transfer their plate to me?

You cant transfer a plate to someone unless they are family. Or at least thats what Ive been told.

I think Paul si rigth that you cannot transfer unless to a family member. I have been offered $200 for mine before.

It is difficult if not impossible to get a black plate now. You can’t just have a plate transferred to you. You could possibly work a series of transactions where you moved names around on titles, but even if you had a notary who would do it (good luck on that one) you would pay several hundred dollars and probably have to pay tax on the value of the black-plated vehicle at least once.
In short, you can’t get a black plate any more than you can spell “license.” :ugh2:

does any1 know how long u can let a plate go un-registered and still be able to re-register it ? ? cuz i still have mine and wanted to use it again on the new truck

I don’t think it matters how long it’s not registered, as long as you owned and had it registered at one point.

Its 1 year guff. I let my truck sit 14 months and they made me get a new plate

i believe that is the deal with the regular white plates but with “custom” plates such as the black dare plate it doenst matter
i asked this question to AAA when i sold my camaro and didnt know if i would buy a vehicle with in the year to put the black dare plate back on something.
they said i have as long as it takes. its mine since i paid the 35 bucs for it back in 99

damn, so we dont have any other options than white plates now. I got pulled over by a trooper the other day for having a tinted plate cover and i told him its cuz i hate the plate i have now and couldnt get my hands on a dare plate. at least i just have to take it off and i dont have to pay a fine.

they still have the Flag ship niagra plates? those are to read even at 15 feet.

flag ship niagra has been off the market for years now prob like 8-10 years
if ihad to get one now i think i would have to get the wildlife one that is green.

My 6 Grrrs plate was expired for almost 4 years. I just renewed it & transferred it to my GTO with no troubles.
I would think DARE plate is similar.

Yes “personalized” plates are different, but you don’t automatically have lifetime ownership. They have an “inactivity” term of 5 years, at which point your plate is open for re-issue to anyone who applies for it. Note that there is a difference, however, between “specialty” plates and “personalized” plates. Specialty plates like DARE can’t be personalized.
Also, there are currently 3 “Special Fund” plates available that have a full skin design instead of just a logo on the left.

over 10 years ago. almost 12 years ago.
the reason i remember this is because a friend of mine in Highschool had one and his dad said it was discontinued and i havent talked to him since 2000 thats why i knew that it had to have been before 2000.
