I’m not sure if this is the correct place to start this thread but here goes.

I’ve been looking at wheels for…too long, but I finally found a pair that hasn’t been overdone (at least I haven’t seen many) on an S13. Advan RG-D’s.

The sizing chart is in the ‘Brochure’ link. That S15 looks menacing and I want something like that on an S13. Only thing is, calculating wheel sizing is a bitch and a half and the options that are on the chart aren’t exactly a wide variety to choose from.

I was thinking of 17X9J 35inset or 18X9J 35inset for the fronts and 18X10J 35inset on the rear.
I’d prefer more wheel depth at the back than the front.

17X9J also comes in 29/35/45 inset.
18X9J comes in 25/35/45 inset.
18X10J comes in only 35 inset.

I’m not exactly experienced with wheel fitment and I’ve read so many forum posts online telling me which is which but then the next post I read says otherwise so I don’t know who’s right.

So I bring it to you guys to straighten this out for me (troll armageddon impending). Someone please clarify the difference between inset and offset, and also let me know what you guys think good wheel sizing would be for these RG-D’s. Something aggressive but at the same time won’t be ridiculous on a dd.

I would think inset/offset is the same thing just worded differently.

If i were you, I’d go 18x10 +35. Throw on a 35 or 30 profile stretched tire and slam it to the ground. Will probably have to do a slight roll on your fenders but shouldn’t be too big a deal.

I like those rims too 😛

+35 offset sucks and will hit coilovers on a s13. Even the 17x9+29 will hit coilovers in the front, you’d need s 10mm spacer to clear.

If you want the stretched look and are set on these wheels I’d go 18x9 +25 or 17x9+29 with a 10-20mm spacer up front, and the 18x10 with a 15mm spacer. Or if you feel upto it get the 18x10.5+25, I’m not sure about clearance issues with the size though.

18x10 +20ish in the rear would be perfect for a daily imo

Sadly, the 18X10 RG-D’s don’t come in +20 ish offset. Only +35…and yeah I figured it will be hitting the coilovers but that can be fixed with spacers and a rolled or over fender’d rear.

I want these in that case:

Koguchi Power rear over fenders. 70mm O\_O

There’s a guy on zilvia who’s rocking 17X9.5 +17 and the Koguchi Power overs and its still sunk…

It’s obvious these wheels weren’t made with the S-chassis in mind but that S15 on the Advan site looks too.damn.dope.

Ok time for a noobie question. Which will have a deeper wheel? +35 or +25 inset. INSET. The Advan charts use inset as do a lot of the newer wheel sizing charts for other manufacturers like SSR, Work, and Volk. I’m still not understanding the difference between inset and offset.

+15 to +20 is perfect offset for a S13 chassis… so grab the +29 with a 10mm spacer(effective offset would be +19) or the +25 with a 5-10mm spacer (effective offset +15 - +20) and your golden.

As for the koguichi overfenders… no wonder. The +17 offset would nicely fit a stock rear quarter fender… no wonder its sunken in on a +70mm rear fender… You’d need a massive rim or a ridiculous negative offset to counter a +70mm fender.

… I don’t get it? Run real life camber?

You would need something retarded like a 17x11 or 12 -20 to fit koguchi’s flush with a 265 or 285 tire… with no camber.

Also, Fracture… if you had a +35 offset wheel… you would be doing the OPPOSITE of what you want to do to fit those fenders. No positive offset wheels will even be remotely close to filling those fender wheel wells.

Yeah you’re right, Datenshi. I don’t think positive offset wheels will fill 70mm over fenders well.
But thanks for the input man, I will crunch those numbers and see if things work out to give flush fitment on stock rear fenders with or without being rolled.

I m running a 17 x 9.5 +15, in rear, 2.2 degree camber, 235/40 (federal 595, which is technically a 245/40), about the clearance of 3 credit cards. Rolled but no pulled fenders. s13.

With that said, a 17 x 9 +20 on street camber (1.5 degrees) would be flush depending on tire choice. This is assuming u run a slight stretch.

If you run the proper tire for rim, then i have no idea. ahah.

^ I’m running 17x9 +20 with 265/40R17 rear tires (“proper” tire :P), 3 degrees rear camber, stock body with no rubbing issues. Fronts are same rim size with 5mm spacers to clear coils, 235/45R17, ~1.8 degrees camber, stock body no rubbing, and still have fender liners.

your wheels would be sunk with 70mills ciaran i run a 30mm over with .50 camber and it is creditcard fitment, the lower you go makes your lower control arm go on a more aggressive angle which actually shortens and pulls in a more aggressive wheel.

i know that, thats why i posted the picture. but believe it or not the distance from the fender to the lip under load was ~70mm’s
