Perhaps this is the problem? It’s not about Dem vs Republican(or at least it shouldn’t be). It’s about right vs. wrong. Both administrations were wrong on many accounts IMO.
But it’s certainly easy to point one way or the other.

Both?
Don’t get me wrong, a politician is a politician with few exceptions. But no administration or congress can say that they had as much of an epic fail then the past one.
Our invasion of Iraq makes them top the list.

um…sorry to disagree here. First those idiots where told that a hurricane was going to hit, and did nothing but sit on there fat lazy asses while the smart ones moved the hell out of the area…can’t feel bad for them. Secondly, the state has to declare a state of emergency and ask for help…don’t just blame the whole organization, wasn’t completely there fault.

I take it then you agree with the rest of my points? I can live with that.
This is a discussion for another thread. But I agree with some of your points but I still don’t like the fact that Bush appointed the horse judge as the head of FEMA.

If this guy is one of the best and the brightest then why was he working only for the promise of a bonus at a failed company that had been taken over by the government? Me thinks his story is a bit of a crock of shit and he was just another person with logic clouded by greed.
I agree that the talented individuals working to fix the clusterfuck we are in should be rewarded generously for taking on such a task. I just don’t buy everything that article/letter was trying to feed me.

Yeah, I get little tired of hearing how these guys are the best and brightest. The other thing is when people say, “If they don’t get a bonus they will quit and get a job somewhere else.” Orly? I hear Walmart and McDonalds are doing well right now, goodluck with your search fellas.

Don’t get me wrong. There are lots of greys here and lots of opinions and few facts, but the point is in any capitalist economy, penalizing monetarily workers doesn’t exactly incent them to do much of anything.
In this case, do I feel sorry for the guy? Not really. He spent how many years raking in an inflated salary, regardless if he was involved with the securities that caused the issues. But going overboard on the reaction like Cuomo and other politicians have to “name and shame” them is just ridiculous. Passing legislation JUST to get that money back is retarded. How about instead of closing the barn door after the horses have escaped you do the the due diligance and have government auditors keep track instead of always being reactive.
It’s the sweeping brush strokes that are going to hamper the recovery. Saying “all Executives are greedy incompetent and over paid” is like saying “all McDonald’s workers are undereducated, underprivileged, and have no career aspirations”. While both are certainly true of some of those people, there are many who are the exact opposite of the stereotype now being encouraged.
