I like how its a total crapshoot whether the differential will work or not straight off the showroom floor.
Or you put them on track with cars with the same advertised hp and they get WALKED down the straights. 56% drivetrain loss.

Seen 3 of them at the track already, all bone stock. One had a diff that worked all day long, another had one stop working halfway through the day, and another didnt work at all.
Never-worked diff guy got walked in a straight line by an E39 M5 w/ an exhaust (~415bhp at best and 4000lbs). The two of them eventually lined up and did a mile+ roll race on the back straight. Owner is headed for the dyno and said he’ll sell it if something isnt catastrophically wrong. :lol

From inside line:
“Last week _Inside Line_ exclusively put this 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 [on a chassis dyno](http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/03/inside-line-dyno-tests-the-2011-ford-mustang-gt-50.html) to see if Ford’s power ratings for the new 5.0-liter are believable. They’re not. This thing makes way _more_ than Ford is admitting to. On our chassis dyno it recorded 395 hp at 6,600 rpm and 365 lb-ft of torque at 4,350 rpm. AT THE WHEELS!!!”
I suspect the performance difference in the limited slip is due to the 4 options of rear gear ratio.
“Now here’s a really cool thing: Ford still offers you choices in rear axle gearing when you spec out your new 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0. Standard with the auto is 3.15 final gearing, 3.31 with the manual. But you can check off a box on the order form for 3.55 or 3.73 gears if you don’t mind giving up a little fuel economy for even better acceleration. A limited-slip diff is standard on all GTs.”
one single diff, with 4 different values of torque multiplication will provide 4 different responses. The diff is probably optimized for the 3.15 and 3.31 gears, and not so much for the 3.55 or 3.73 ratios.
There is also a track package with different spring and damper rates.
Lots of variations within the GT’s. All GT’s have a limited slip standard, and limited slip is not available on a v6.

I genuinely do like the '11 Mustangs, but still could not justify purchasing a brand new mustang and modding it with C6Z territory being only a few thousand away.
