I keep seeing these 1.00 check card purchases showing up on my statement, do you have to pay to use a debit card at some places?
and no im not calling my bank cuz i dont wanna hear classical music for a half hour

I get them if i use a ATM at another bank. but not for going anywhere.

do you use Pay at the Pump? if so thats probably the hidden charge!

i do at sunoco and never get charged… but some places DO THIS!!!

this is probably the charge…
if you use a MAC machine thats not owned by your bank…besides getting charge that $2.50 or whatever fee for using it, you all get charged $1 from you bank.
this is the case with most big banks…
i know there is a bank in oakland i used to use called eureka bank.
it was a 1 branch bank & since they only had 1 MAC…they would charge you to use other machines…you would just have to pay the machine fee.
small banks usually drop this fee cause they don’t have many mac machines, but the larger banks, citizens, PNC, etc… are gonna charge you to use other banks macs.

it’s either
1. $1 fee for ATM usage
2. a debit hold, no matter what amount you charge they send through a hold of $1 to make sure the account is active, later the amend it to the proper charge.
check back a day later and see if the $1 turned to a larger amount.

He said it’s on his statement, so it’s probably a snail-mail statement.
Make sure you don’t have a $1 fee per month on your checking account.

i think its from the pay at the pump cuz thats what i always do, i get gas at GETGo

i used to go to eureka with my grandma when i was a little kid because they had a gold fish pond right in the bank.

I get gas their also and never paid a fee. Why in the fuck would you let the bank charge you money every month and not give them a call and find out exactly what it is. The banks fuck you over enough, you might as well know where the money is going. I call the bank every now and then to bitch about some fee I see on my statement, and it is usually a mistake and I get the money returned to me. Just take the 10 minutes and find out what it is.

exactly.
If its not the fee its a 1 dollar hold that the pay at the pumps do, to make sure the account is active before it allowes you to get gas. You will see similar things with hotels when you make reservations, yet some times its the full amout to make sure have the money at the time of request.
They usually don;t stay.
But if its a snail mail Statement and not on the internet more than likely its a bank fee for using a ATM of a different bank.

Also for people getting “nailed” with “hidden” chages at the pump, if its not disclosed in plain site its illegal. They are basically stealing your money. Why do you think there is an extra step at ATMs before you get your money advising you of extra charges.

Aside from using a mac machine that isnt your bank,Alot of the time you get them using the card as debt card and not a CC. I use mine as CC only… cept for the few times I goto walmart and forget to tell them credit… are you PNC Bank?

If it is a Credit / Debit Card… you should always use it as Credit when making purchses. Only use it as a MAC when you need cash.
