I just took insurance off my bike for the winter do I have to turn in my plate? ---

not for a motorcycle… iirc. i have a ton of bike plates laying around. never caused me any grief. ---

I haven’t seen an insurance company care about having plates turned in to cancel insurance yet. ---

No, you don’t have to. As was said, the DMV won’t even take them. They tell you to throw it out. ---

I know this is true for my car because im taking it off the road tomorrow and I need the receipt number to take insurance off (geico). ---

I was insured through progressive, they didn’t require any proof. Just said I wanted to cancel insurance, signed a paper and was done :gotme:
