# Does the Town of Tonawanda reduce "failure to obey traffic control device"

Wifes friend got that ticket in the Town when she was allegedly speeding (7mph over).
She claims to not have been speeding and it is the 1st ticket in 18 years of driving…
Anyway, does it get reduced w/o points?
Wouldn’t it be better to get a speeding ticket for 5-7 over so the judge can see the actual offense?
To me, it does not seem like its “nicer” to give out the failure to obey?

It’s much nicer to get failure to obey than speeding since it won’t affect insurance nearly as much. I’d just go to court and see they’ll reduce it to parking though. Probably will.

Got one in Lancaster,not guilty plea got me school & $100 fine.

Yes. Got one reduced years ago to a parking ticket (no fee, go figure) and no points/school.

It’s in the town’s best interest to reduce to parking. They keep 100% fine for a parking ticket because it’s a local ordinance. Failure to obey is still a state level violation so Albany gets the majority of the fine money while Tonawanda gets just a small piece.
This is why every town (except the retards in the city of Buffalo) reduce so much.

Nope, Buffalo was doing it long before the State Police decided to stop plea bargains. Besides that, the local judges can still accept plea bargains even at the objection of the State Police. Buffalo is just plain stupid, on so many levels, this being one them.

just got tagged on colvin 2 months ago - 43 in a 30. $100 fine, $25 school, no points. Just show up on the date on the ticket, sign in and talk to the prosecutor guy. he’ll ask if you’ve had traffic school in the last 18months. if not, they offer you driving school and you plea guilty to the parking ticket. pretty simple and painless, but you wouldn’t believe how many people got confused by this

As I recall, most all of my tickets followed that course, but I have never had a non fix-it, or speeding ticket.
I was 90% sure the town would reduce her ticket. Just figured I would ask as I have not had go to court in a while.

Listen up all future “I got a ticket” thread starters.
ALL TICKETS CAN BE REDUCED. And most will be reduced unless it’s the City of Buffalo. Tickets are issued soley to make money (I dont care what they tell you). The city in which you got your ticket does not want to suspend your license or put you in jail. THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY!!! This is why your court date can be posponed and postponed and postponed again. All suspensions can be reversed with the payment of your money. So whenever you go into traffic court ALWAYS PLEA NOT GUILTY!!! This will allow them to reduce your ticket so that they can keep your money and not send it to Albany.
