whats the weight difference between the DSG car and 6spd car? STOCK whp number differences?
With all the loss through ANY automatic trans car, I still dont understand why REAL sports cars sometimes ditch the manual option all together.

The APR stage 4 video that Stallmer posted is on stock DSG box. No programming or physical mods. I don’t know what kind of power it’s making but I’d guess over 400whp. Also, it is a manual so the only thing to slip would be the clutch, which can happen on a manual.

I think the DSG unit weighs about 100lbs more then then manual. Remember, the DSG is not an auto and has nearly identical loss as a traditional manual transmission.

its a computer controlled mechanically operated twin clutch transmission with 2 input shafts to the gearbox. each shaft has its own clutch hence the dual clutch, only one shaft is energized at a time while driving. while the other isnt being used the computer is constantly selecting the next gear to be used so it is ready for the shift all that has to happen is the release of one clutch and engagement of the other which happens within a fraction of a second to each other. its better than having a dogbox in a street car.

Maybe for an all out drag car but for any car I drive on the street I want 3 pedals. Unless it’s some luxo-barge.

changing the clutch on my manual is a ton cheaper and easier than changing the clutches on the DSG not to mention the lack of aftermarket/support. im sure that will change in the future though.

DSG’s require NO clutch change. VW, Audi, Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari, Bugatti all state that at no point would you need to replace the clutches in a double clutch system
due to it being computer controlled, the “slipping” period is exponentially shorter then a 3rd pedal assembly.

no im talking to handle the power. the stock clutches will only handle so much TQ until they start slipping.

Remember that the computer has control of everything now with DSG. I doubt there is any torque coming from the engine during up shifts. It will close the TB, pull timing, and probably throw a trouble code if the clutch did slip. And all this happens much faster than you could hid the paddle to begin with. Which makes me wonder… If it could be programed to be even faster and more consistent in auto.
