Got this ol 1990 Eclipse. I’ve started to have an intermittent problem with the car starting. Sometimes it will…sometimes it wont. It’s died on me once while driving…left the car for about 10 hours in a parking spot, came back and it started right up. Drove it to the bank yesterday, started just fine, went to leave the bank and it wouldn’t start. It tried to turn over, all the lights in the care come on, the ECU is as pretty as the day it came out of the factory. Suggestions? ---

The ignition coil isn’t wet. It’s cranking, just not getting anything. ---

That will help narrow things down. After all, it could just be an intermittent coolant temp sensor problem causing it to dump fuel on start. Other than that i would just be guessing. ---

Ok, this car is being a dickbag. Took off the top feed line from the fuel filter…nothing… Will the fuel pump on these cars make a noticeable noise when its priming? Or do i need some sort of stethoscope to hear it? It drove me home earlier…and now i swear to christ the fuel pump is dead. ---

Yes, it should be noticeable. ideas: Fuel pump relay and wiring - power to fuel pump w/key on?, or fuelpump itself - long jumper wire or 12v power sorce. and of corse line blockage after that. ---

Like Skrappa said, these cars tend to have hot start issues. Noted problems are a coolant temp. sensor, or fuel pressure solenoid. ---

I’m leaning more towards pump/relay as well. If you have a voltmeter or test light, and an easy way to access the fuel pump. (Usually an access panel under the carpet/seats in most cars) See if it’s getting power while it won’t start. If it’s getting power and not starting it’s time to swap the pump. If there is no power to the pump, check the fuel pump relay/wiring. ---

These cars DO NOT prime. They only kick the pump on when you crank it over. It’s gay. Next time it does this pull a vac line that is connected to the manifold and spray some FLAMMABLE brake clean in the intake manifold and crank it over see if it runs off of the brake clean, if it does, then you have a fueling issue. If it doesn’t then most likely it is an ignition issue. Check the power transistor connector for proper connectivity, check the coils for cracks (heat affects coils) Are you sure the ECU looks good? Others have mentioned good ideas as well. We need more information. Too bad you had to be a faggot and move to cali. fag ---

Coils are fine (No cracks) I’m very sure the ECU looks good, no black/brown burnt spots or funny smells… No EPROM ☹ It starts sometimes and doesn’t start other times. Thats whats really waxing my turtle! (nohomo) ---
