# e-fan not coming on

2000 grand am gt, 3.4L V6. temp was up to about 240 and the fans never came on, but engaged when i turned on the AC. not sure where to start troubleshooting. coolant temp sensor? are there seperate relays for high temp engagement and AC engagement?
