never had one before in my life until now. every time I blow my nose with authority I feel my left ear pop and what sounds like snot/fluid in it (followed by some pain). I don’t want to go to the doctors for something so little. Anyone know of a home “cure” for something like this? maybe rubbing alcohol or something? ---

NO NO NO NO NO! Sudafed and Ibuprofen. Repeat every 4-6 hours. /thread Why? Because I was a pharmacy technician for 5 years so I know my sinus drugs. My wife is a speech pathologist, half of the undergrad of which is audiology. I could tell you all about how that popping noise is pressure in your eustacean tubes equalizing with the other side of your tympanic membrane, and how the sudafed will reduce the fluid buildup while the ibuprofen reduces the inflammation allowing the pressure to equalize much easier, but do you really want to know all that? ---

What are those things called, its a wax tube and you light the one end stick it in your ear and the negative pressure suck the wax out of your ear. What the heck are those called? ---

Hydrogen peroxide is for ear wax buildup outside the ear drum (tympanic membrane) and it’s a bit harsh to use straight up. If you have an ear wax problem you should grab one of those debrox kits instead. Rubbing alcohol, well, that will just burn like a mother fucker. Either way your problem isn’t external, it’s internal. Go to the pharmacy counter and get legit sudafed, not the weak sauce you can’t make into speed. If you don’t like taking pills, Advil Cold & Sinus is a single pill made of ibuprofen & sudafed, which is just what you need. ---

Not mucinex, it’s an expectorant. Same drug as robitussin. It’s for your chest/lungs. ---

[/quote] You can tell because the active ingredient listed on the good stuff is “pseudoephedrine.” That, and you can only get it by asking the pharmacy for it. It can be made into speed pretty easily and kids were buying hundreds at a time for that purpose, so a year or so ago they changed the law and charged pharmacists with the responsibility of watching it. Anyone can but it, but they’ll ask for your license and write down who you are and how much you’re buying in a log. … As for candling, I actually don’t know. I don’t “really” even know what it is. I’ve just heard my wife start saying a couple of times “Candling is so bad for you” and then whatever comes next just sort of fades into background noise.:blah: 🤣 ---

He looked sort of horrified and asked who told me this, I said “someone I knew who was a pharmacy tech for a few years… why?” he told me… “because he was right” :lol: it weirded me out a little thanks again peeps ---

There’s really nothing you can do besides drug up and beast your way through it. I’ve had ear infections all my life, there is no misery greater than serious infections in both ears. Neither of which respond to anti-biotics, and hearing the doctor say, “I’ll try this one last drug, then we’re going to stick needles into your eardrums”… Your mission is to get that thing to drain, i used to lay, ear down, on warm wet washcloths. It helps, there are other little things, but since your up and moving it doesnt sound like your condition is too bad.
