# ECU engine codes?

I’m currently having problems with my S13 KA. It has been recommended to me to check my ECU codes, which i am willing to do but, the guide i have to check the codes is writtenfor an S14, i know that they are the same engine but will the ecu codes be the same? second in the guide there is two modes mode I and mode II and both mode have an on and an off section, heres my problem mt car will not run how do i to access the information i need from the ecu when she wont start?
