if they were unbiased why the rankings?

:"1ST PLACE - CHEVROLET CORVETTE ZR-1

A world-beating supercar that proves GM can still bring it when it puts its resources in the right places.

2ND PLACE - NISSAN GT-R

why did they not simply state “we are pinko commie fggt magazine editors who are so sorely lacking of testosterone that we wish not to offend either car maker by assigning rankings, therefore we had a blast and enjoyed both cars equally, now lets take our shirts off and hug”

You dont have to dig very deep… i think the transmission exploding after a couple times beating on it, and then having Nissan telling you to go F off is a pretty serious issue. This is what is preventing me from getting on board with this car. With that being said, any car that can run 11’s in stock form is impressive.

you clearly do not understand this though.

I never proclaimed to be unbiased
I am a dyed in the wool GM guy
I was just stating that based on those minor insignificent details known as “facts” that the Vette is superior, the opinions of me, the magazine editors and or the humpers on this board do not \> fact

Seriously, you’re in a hole with this argument. Just stop digging by admitting you don’t understand the word unbiased.

Nick said after reading the article the editors seemed pretty unbiased, which after reading it I agree. **These same editors proclaimed the vette was the king**. Since they weren’t making this decision based in bias (like the vette and gt-r humpers do), they were making it based on the facts you seem to think they are ignoring.

Bottom line, the editors went in not favoring either car prior to the review. That’s the definition of unbiased BTW. They went into the testing thinking either car could come out on top but their road testing would help them decide. Once the testing was done, and the **facts** about which was faster, handled better, was more comfortable, was more fun etc etc were established they said the Vette was the better car.

I am not digging a hole, I understand what unbiased means and I understand the point I am trying to make, I am not fucking retarded

The original point was directed at the humpers here who cant handle the fact the GT-R isnt the supercar they want it to be

Then the humpers started in on how the editors dont favor either (hence unbiased opinion) but the humpers still miss the point the GT-R through testing is inferior to the Vette, the editors were not biased but the results certainly are

The battle of the 2 cars boils down to “different strokes for different folks”

The bottom line , bias or unbias aside, stroke for folk aside, is that on paper in real world situations, calculated with mathmatical percision ,that the Vette wins

That was really my only contention and I guess it was overstated

I will dull down my retorts from now on as to fit the nyspeed mentality

Cliffs- The Vette p0wns the silly ricer-mobile

Cliffs in nyspeed mode- that there gtr dun is the suk

you stated that the vette was far superior to the gt-r.

the word “far” really tells me that you think the vette blows the gt-r out of the water. the zr-1 may have beaten the gt-r on paper in numbers, however the article clearly states that both cars are breathtaking and that there is not really enough differences to make them sway either way on favoring a specific car.

If you are a dye hard GM guy, that is fine, by all means enjoy the car if you have the oportunity. Brand loyalty is great IMO. Just don’t go around bashing on competitor’s cars.

We all know that the truth is that both car companies have built amazing machines, and that the ensuing competition will likely only push the envelope further.

with all these comparison tests coming out, and some real word #s posted by indipendant parties, I can’t help but wonder how the GTR ran a nearly equal time the the ZR1 on the 'Ring. If anyone had ever watched the vid where they are both synced up both cars are dead even down the long ass back str8. I find this unpossbile given the ZR1 traps consistantly 11-9 Mph faster in the 1/4. I think Porsche might have found something in their test of the GTR.

I Love the ZR1 but have to respect the GTR also for what it is. I am amazed at some of the #s it puts down at nearly 2 full tons. Its a Techno marvel and I think a pretty cool car all around. But JT echo’s my sentiments with the transmission issues. Anyone farmiliar with GM products will tell you that GM has always made some of the strongest and durable drive-trains in the world. They obviously spend the R&D $ on overbuilding them. THat’s more important to me than some cheesy seats. I Rather pay $2000 for a nice set of Recaros or Sparcos then have to drop $20k+ to replace a trans in a brand new car because I drove it how it was designed to be driven.

obviously the GTR would brake longer since it takes 106 feet to **BRAKE** compared to the ZR1’s 96’.

If you tried to **Break** them, that might be a different story.

LOL @ automotive enthusiasts. That’s like trying to find a unicorn nowadays.

The C6Z and this ZR1 are the corvettes they should have been making for years now, impressive doesn’t even fit the bill.

As for the transmission issues, Borg Warner (an American company, ironically) is in the process of fixing the problem. They had a very similar problem with the transmissions used in the Veyron (also made by Borg Warner, and also with overheating/melting problems).

9c1ny: The ZR1 beats the GTR on paper, yes. But I believe that before the ZR1 came out, and everyone was comparing the GTR to the C6Z, the arguments of ‘on paper it destroys it’, ‘calculated with mathematical precision’, and ‘used in real-world conditions’ concluded that the GTR beat the C6Z…yet people still bellowed that the POS rice-mobile was inferior. :roflpicard:

edit:

> See which body style is still relevent 50yrs from now

Your right…50 years from now the corvette will still be producing a massive amount of lift at higher speeds instead of downforce
