Does it matter when your tags ran out or does it go by if your under 5k miles? The tags ran out on the integra back in april while it was gettin pieced together. I took the emissons class but when I asked the instructor never answered. Ive had the car over 4yrs so ownership is not a problem.

its only got like 200 or so miles on it since its last inspection. hope i dont have to have it sniffed or else its screwed. guess i can always get the waiver haha…

it must be a year or more since last inspection to do 5k exemption. you can’t get it early like a normal inspection.

You’re fine. Our 78 Jeep was the same situation and they didn’t even blink on the inspection.

The point of the law is to make sure cars that are exempt are truly going less than 5k/yr. So with an expired sticker it’s been maybe 13-16 months. That means the car probably went less than 4k in 12 months. And the past 2 years with my Jeep, I’ve gone in late, with very low miles, and had no issues getting an exempt sticker in PA.

The only time it’s a problem is when someone drives in 30days early with 4900 miles to get an exemption.

With an exemption, it’s better for the inspector if you’re already expired, because he doesn’t have to worry about the above situation.
