Yeah rebuilding the engine is a lot of fun, but it will be a lot more fun rebuilding my dad’s big block next year. Anyways, I put the cams in and the oil pan on. So now I need to figure out if it is safe to run without the one timing guide or if I need it. Then I can finish up the motor. Well mostly up until now I have just been ripping out the interior. I stripped the interior down to nothing, except for the steering column and the wire harness. I removed all of the heating and air conditioning from the car so I decided to cover up the vents so that the dash would be real smooth and clean. I started out by covering all of the vent openings with task board(nothing special just a easy to cut board). I then used lightweight body filler to fill in the openings and a very thin coat over the whole dash to eliminate the texture and to make it even. I decided to permanently put my gauge pod in the center vent so that there would be no gap around it making it look funny. I used a one part glazing putty to fill in the streaks and dimples. That is where the pictures stop, but I sprayed a light coat of primer, which revealed a lot more dimples, which I have now filled and sanded. Tomorrow I will go at it with paint agian. But this time I have a thicker (fill and sand) primer.
