i saw the other rod/piston combos… i think only 6 of the 8 pistons were found intact.

not good, when i pulled over i noticed about 200ft of fluid follwing up to my car, looked underneath to find the timing chain hanging. When i opened the hood the crank pulley was sitting a little funny, so i moved it and the crank moved lol, snapped that in 1/2, 2 pistons are MIA, among other carnage…but somehow the heads were untouched…thank god lol

Wow, any pics of this carnage?
I’m shocked the heads came out ok if 2 whole pistons are missing. Got lucky there. Generally bits of the pistons get sprayed into the combustion chambers.

yeah tell me about it, i thought my $1200 heads were gonna be junk…must have went out the bottom somehow :confused I wish i had more pics, this happened about…oh 4-5yrs ago now…

Geez, I wish decent heads were that cheap for Hondas. I gotta shell out 1200 for just a good port job, and another 400 on valve train.
How’d you blow this motor?

one of my old 16v’s i had ate up the rod bearings and the rods had about an 1/8th inch of free movment. it wasnt good.

thats cheap man. a worked head for my car is alot… 7-800 for a bare big port core. 1200 for cams, 600 for valves/springs/retainers, then port work… about 3500 for a good built head.if you assemble it yourself. :headbang

Bout the same on Hondas, cams are 700-800, valvetrain is around 400-500, portwork is 1000-1200, then if you have an H22 (like me) you need to get the rocker arms coated so the cams don’t eat them (Honda used a softer metal on the H22 rocker arms than they did on the B series rocker arms). Either get them coated for 800-1000 or get aftermarket ones made for 1000ish. :excited
Goodbye money if you wanna build a H22 head.

yeah stock bottom end…it happened on the way back from the lot. I hit it in 1st on Altamont ave and at about 6K it made a whole lotta noise and let go…4 years of straight abuse for ya :lol
