i was checking the engine oil on the weekend and i noticed it smelt like gas a little. im not sure what is wrong exactly but i have doubt in the stock fuel pressure regulator on my redtop, i have a warlbro 225lph fuel pump and sometimes when im coming to a stop my rpms drop and when im low on gas it feels like im getting no gas when i accelarate from a stop but only till like 2000rpm.
also misses on idle ive checked everything so thats why i think its the fpr.
so if someones had a problem like this or knows what may be wrong please help.

Check your compression my friend. But it sounds like some internal damage you might be suffering from. My guess would be the rings too.

Don’t tear anything apart until you know for sure.

A stuck injector, dying FPR, basically any horribly overrich condition will wash the oil off the walls of your cylinder and end up in the crankcase.

Do the compression test first, it’s easiest.

hold your mouth and nose closed with your hand, then try to blow out

if your ears pop you have good compression

my compression seems ok it was 148,150,148,150 ino that may b a bit low but i think the motor oil having gas in it prolly efecting the compressoin ill change it to 10w30 insted of 5w30 and do a compression test again.
