It’s really a mixed bag with these cars especially with the earlier models. The 2010+ X’s have a better factory tune and are not as prone to these problems. The 08’s however are all over the place, some people have hesitation while others do not, there are TSB’s for bad fuel pump relays discovered by Cobb that leaned the car out dangerously. So it’s pick your poison, you might be rich you might be lean.

If you want me to tig a 02 bung on for ya, I can do it in less than an hr, and you can even install the gauge yourself at the shop, or I can do it for teh cheaps. What ever works best for you man. i am here to help.

i had a slipping clutch once. when i floored it, the car yelled out “zippy doo dah” at me as the RPM’s rocketed towards redline(roughly 4400rpm)

oh yeah!, stock 224k mile clutch + nozzles + 11mm IP (stock tune still) = “slip”
but no nozzle it was good to go still, probably would have lasted another 30-35k

Is Ernie a little hard to work with or frustrating as fuck sometimes? Yep…I’ve(+ a dozen friends) argued with him for years now on every car he’s owned since we’ve known him. That doesn’t make him an idiot or dumb. He’s a resilient little bastard and he’ll learn what he needs to…eventually. But just because he doesn’t know every single piece of knowledge about his Evo doesn’t mean he’s dumb and everyone should insult him all day every day. Give the dude a break…let him and his car exist…go on about your day.

Mike, My supposed “cheap ass, unheard of” exhaust came with the wideband bung installed in it too. I just plugged it. Perhaps that plug came loose…anywho, the tune is four days away. Otherwise I’d take you up on your offer of a beer’s worth wideband reading. 🙂
