The bird shit is so bad you can’t ever get near it from the down wind side. The smell drives you back.

That’s the iron horse. You can kill walleye in the end of summer by taking the drift between that and the red roundhouse. If you can stand the smell.

What I find funny about the article is how they talk about blackrock with pride, and every time they say it I cringe at what it is today.

Back in the day Blackrock and Buffalo were just two villages. The only reason that today it’s the city of Buffalo and not the city of blackrock is because the village of Buffalo beat out the village of Blackrock for the western terminus of the Erie Canal. They negotiated for it at the Eagle House in Williamsville.

What’s even crazier is that when they were building the canal, they decided to blow up an outcrop of black rock (hence the name of the village) simply as a way to hurt the pride of the village because they were so proud of it.
The black rock was supposedly right by where the peace bridge is today.
