HTA35R seems to be the hotness in the evo world. I have no problem spooling a nonBB 70mm turbo although I have a relatively small hotside (on purpose) but tell you the truth I love it. I’d much rather have the extra lag to save engine parts on a turbo in that size frame range. The 42+ covers are MUCH larger yet the wheels aren’t much bigger, they are more efficient but you’ll need to run BB on that frame. Honestly, descide the power levels you want…and go one step bigger. I believe the 4294 is 71mm and the 4202 is 74mm but i’m not really sure, so consider my turbo a NonBB smaller housing 4202 😉 I love turbo lag because when it comes in it’s just rediculous. ---

Well whatever size I decide to go with, I will be going BB for sure. I liked the Idea maybe a 40R but have not seen enough of them on the Evo. I think it would give me that added margin of I need more power you know. I just dont know if the 40 is worth the effort when the 42R has been proven beast. Well one thing is the turbo setup will be my last purchase for the build. Hopefully it will allow me time to see if any other setups come about that bring big power. I honestly could give 2 shits about the lag myself. The car is not daily driven obviously , and it is more geared towards highway pulls and 1/4 mile runs. Sooo we will see ---

40r is classified as a small frame turbo, the 42 is classified as a large frame. There is a BIG external size difference 😛 ---

Thats just the thing as well. If I go T3 frame then at some point I will be handcuffed bye the flange. Step up to a T4 frame and the options become larger for the down the road upgrade. Who knows in 2 years the car could take on a serious diet and some safety equipment and become a bit more dedicated haha ---

almost any T3 setup you’d want you can get with a T4 housing. Go with the T4 up front. ---

The 37r should be a medium frame but we do classify it as a large frame ---

Sooo we will see I originally had the 35 kit from buschur, but I got bored, my engine is built I have the buschwacker trans and all the drive line and transfer case upgrades. So I wanted more. We loaded up and went up to the 40r(4094R). I love it and wont go back. I worked for Honeywell for 2 years so getting the turbos cheap was very easy when you make friends with the right people ---

All the turbo classes switched about 2 years ago, the only turbos classified as large frame are 45R and up I believe ( I can’t get on the website) Although some people in the “sport compact scene” may consider them large they are not. ---

I work for the company that makes these turbos. And to honeywell and garret the classifications I said are correct. ---

in industry and tuners per say might classify otherwise but to the manufacturer the way I stated was how they classify ---

Honeywell, we are the parent company of Garrett the classifications are as follows GT12-GT22 Small Frame GT25-GT35 Medium Frame GT47-GT60 Large Frame Again to other companies they might have changed the classifications but they have not changed on our end ---

I would love to see some real hard data on the 40R on the Evo but really have not seen anything very solid. Especially coming from either of the big 2 AMS or Buschur. If I find hard facts from either one of those two shops then I would consider it as fact , hahaha. I know I will have the motor to handle whatever I want to throw at it. But dont want to waste cash on an unproven turbo setup!!! ---

Evo 8 MR. the smartest thing I did was drop the damn 6 speed and got my hands on a 5 speed so buschur could do thier thing with the bushwacker upgrade ---

It wont be my car in about 3 hours its official. I just got a call from the guy interested, he is meeting me at the bank with a check to buy the 8. Im making a pretty penny on this thing. Let me know what kind of hard evidence you want. Ill get in touch with the shop I did fab and engineering at in NY and we can get you info you want about the 40r. ---

I was just trying to get pics up of it and at least some of the parts list, i can’t get into the gallery to load anything though. Looks like a stock evo 8 on the outside though except the exhuast, thats the nicest thing, kinda sleeperish for an evo that is ---
