# Explain to me ebrakes and germans.

On the bmw, I had put brand new pads and rotors on the car. Less than 3000 miles later, they’re squeaking/making a CHHHH noise. I was told it was just a backing plate from the rear left side. But now it’s getting louder, and more annoying.
Tonight I did a little experiment. While driving around 40 mph, when I lift up the ebrake a tiny bit (so tiny that the park brake light does not come on the dash) the noise gets quieter. When I apply the brakes however, there is no difference.
So I did another experiment in my driveway, and there’s no noise when I go in reverse, only when I go forward. So I rolled forward a little bit and pulled up on the ebrake real hard. Then went back into reverse, went forward, and now it seems it’s a bit louder. (haha. figures, right?)
What does this mean? And why are germans retarded when it comes to brakes? It seems it’s the only major problem I’ve had with the bimmer and the audi. Ugh.
PS. I did read the other thread though, and I didn’t find any info about ebrakes in it though…

probably means they went in wrong and there is a problem

sounds like a loose p brake shoe. Maybe a broken hold down spring clip. I’ve also seen the whole shoe material come off the backing and make noise in one direction only.

the parking brake basically uses the rotor hat as a drum brake set-up. there is probably a problem with the shoe. get it checked out.

eBrakes are just the internet version of real brakes.

u have rear disk with a parking shoe(ebrake is inside the disk and pretty much its a simplified drum brake. theres prolly rust or the shoes are so old in there the ripped apart. either way the rear parking brake shoes need to be done. there really easy though
