# F-Body owners

Alright… i know pretty well what kind of problems to look for when going to look at a new Trans Am, b/c i own one, but are there any common problems i should look for/be aware of with the LS1’s (specifically a '01)? - Thanks

dont the 01+ have a tendency to burn oil? i thought that i heard that. not a major deal but just something to keep an eye on

i konw the 01 z06s have that problem, idk about f bods though

ya…i knew about the z06s, but i wasnt too sure about the fbods. regardless i dontt hink its a major issue.

i think the biggest problem with Fbods when looking , is that alot of them get raced / hammered

yea, i knew those things, only cuz its the same thing on my car… my windows are slow as hell adn i just replaced warped rotors…  
Luckily, headlight motors are still working good…

ya the window motors r pure shit on those cars…it takes mine like 20mins to go up or down all the way. i havent replaced the rotors yet but itll be sometime this year. brass gears for the headlights = the win tho, cause i have those…other than that, i cant think of any real problems and i know that squeaks and stuff like that r pretty normal on the cars.

its not just the fbodys with window issues. its most of the gms. my truck does it also

my car was raced about 5 or 6 trips to the track. she runs like a champ though

13,000 miles when i bought it

actually i do think mine burns oil (01) the low oil light will come on like 1500 miles after teh last change :dunno:

Nothing i’m not used to. The front main seal on mine leaks a little bit… leaks about a quart in 2000 miles…

It’s easy to bend valves from over-reving.

I figure that all SBC’s will leak oil. It’s an undocumented feature. I call my LT1 the “externally self-oiling motor”.

oil leaks are good, they keep the bottom the of from rusting
