i keep forgetting to leave these at home before going to the court house, airport, etc. etc. i’ve had to throw out like 4 swiss army knives…

that’s super nice man.

you’re still wrong. not for any reason other than that your perspective doesnt align with mine and that makes you wrong… which is pretty much what you just said in reverse.

back on topic… i picked up a couple belts recently too. I wasn’t happy with my last 3 belts, all bought at the local mall… 2 of which fell apart pretty quickly.

A good leather belt lasts pretty much forever other than the leather itself deforming slightly to conform to your own body, which is okay. I’ll post some pics of them later tonight if possible.

> Nouveau riche (French for “new rich”), or new money, refers to a person who has acquired considerable wealth within his or her generation.[1] This term is generally to emphasize that the individual was previously part of a lower socioeconomic rank, and that such wealth has provided the means for the acquisition of goods or luxuries that were previously unobtainable. The term can also be used in a derogatory fashion, for the purposes of social class distinction, to describe persons with newfound wealth as vulgar—lacking the experience or finesse to use wealth in the same manner as old money—persons from families who have been wealthy for multiple generations.

This is just retarded.

That’s like saying a guy who gets out of school, eats kraft dinner for 3 years to pay off his loans, does so and then finally can afford to go out and buy himself a new car somehow doesn’t deserve it and should be looked down upon by more established people who could long have afforded that car or who already have one.

Remember how your economy sucks ass??? it’s because your economy cannot develop and sustain people like this fast enough and with enough frequency to replace the boomers that have passed through the ‘i bought a new car’ phase to the ‘i bought a motorized chair that takes me upstairs’ phase.

Embrace the guy that is excited that he can wear a suit that wasn’t made in China for a department store that has to stock cuts that fit the ‘average’ person and not him in particular.

Cheer on the dude who buys quality products made my people who went to school and had a passion for making that quality product… not farmers… for reference… see this comment about chinese quartz watches vs. swiss autos.

> The movement in that Panerai was made in Switzerland by a guy named Sven who went to university for 3 years then apprenticed for 2 years with ETA SA in the same division that his father and hie father’s father worked in and where thier wives and mothers work in the office or in marketing. The assembly of the movement takes 3 hours and 200+ individual steps known by heart in a lab-coat labratory with high precision equipment that is made from just as high a grade of material spec as the components of the watch itself.

> The company goes back hundreds of years and the brand is managed by men and women who would lay their lives down for it.
>
> The movement in a Citizen Eco-drive is made by a farmer in china who moved into the city because droughts from the smog that is created by over-manufacturing made it impossible for him to feed himself and his 5 kids (only 3 of whom will reach adulthood… the boys). He works in an upscale sweat shop and worked his way up to assembly from garbage detail after 3 weeks in training which consisted mostly of upgrading the dexterity of his fingers and learning how to read diagrams written on on the back of old fax paper from a dot-matrix printer that is in a pile of old printers in the bathroom (alley) out behind the building.
>
> He can’t pronounce citizen and wont make in a year what it costs to buy one used in a pawn shop where all citizen watches end up after 3 years for $50 OBO.
>
> Appreciation for craftsmenship, legacy and old-school innovation is why swiss auto’s keep their value and why they will always be awesome even if a battery powered Tommy Hilfiger watch, assembled by the chinese farmer during the second half of his 12 hour shifts when they switch the logos on the same watch movements from citizen to TH, keeps better time.
>
> Kind of like how a Corvette Z06 is faster than a Ferrari F430… but the corvette is made on an assembly line by unionized, over weight middle american men who get drunk on thier lunch break (worse than chinse farmers) whereas Ferrari is the equivalent of a high end swiss auto.

> Guys who know that pick up on it when you have an awesome watch… Guys who appreciate that are worth connecting with. Women who appreciate that are probably hot.
>
> i swear we went through this a couple times in this thread already.

People in that thread found reasons to complain that the thread shouldnt exist because watches are stupid, or pocket squares are gay… the fact that they exist and are in demand is proof that you are wrong and should shut the hell up about it.

How do you think environmentalists feel about cars and internet-based enthusiast clubs that foster conspicuous consumption of go fast parts that make our cars even more dangerous to drive and increase their environmental footprint?
